Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide memorial complex was built in the park of the same name in 1967 in memory of the 1.5 million innocent victims, who died tragically during the Armenian Genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire in 1915. The monument consists of twelve stone pillars leaning over the eternal flame, high granite stele and the hundred-meter wall, on which the names of the cities of Armenia are carved, where the Turkish invaders made a brutal massacre.

 

Travelers, who want to get acquainted with the history of a strong centuries-old Armenian people, are advised to take a tour to the Tsitsernakaberd memorial and the Armenian Genocide Museum as part of a trip to Armenia. Every year several thousands of residents of Armenia and other countries of the world visit this historical sight to pay tribute to the innocent victims. The Tsitsernakaberd monument is one of the main places to visit in Yerevan. Travel companies regularly organize tours to the memorial, during which guides tell about the tragic events that happened in Armenia at the beginning of the 20th century.
