Tatev Monastery
Tatev Monastery, majestically rising above the gorge of the Vorotan River, is the pride of Armenian medieval architecture. The monastery complex is one of the most popular attractions in Armenia, where thousands of tourists and locals make tours annually.
The main building of the architectural ensemble is the church of Saints Peter and Paul. Of particular note is the “Gavazan” — a gigantic rocking stone pillar decorated with ornaments. Participants of a trip, as a rule, cross a long air route on the longest in the world cable car called “Wings of Tatev” to get to the monastery.
